Alpbach – a fantastic Winter fairy tale

Alpbach – Austria's most beautiful village

With its 2.500 inhabitants, this village is situated 1.000 m above sea level on a sunny plateau of the Alpbach valley. Owing to its homogenous architectural style of timber construction, Alpbach was nominated Austria's most beautiful village in 1983, Alpbach was awarded the title „Europe's most beautiful flower village" at the European floral decoration contest. On 2nd September 2004 Alpbach received the „White Oscar" - awarded by the renowned British ski magazine „The Good Skiing & Snowboard Guide" in the category „Small resort of the year. Alpbach has never quite renounced its need for harmony, security, beauty and cultural identity.
